Our Story
Zahra and Jennifer started Hedonist Artisan Chocolates to bring pleasure through good chocolate; first to the Rochester, New York community and now the nation.It is important to us that chocolate be a joy, not only to consume, but to create.

Jennifer's fascination with chocolate grew after working at a small chocolatier in California. Her background in Leisure Studies motivates her to create opportunities for people to experience happiness. For Zahra, who grew up in a home where sugar was a rare treat, owning a chocolate shop was her ultimate childhood dream. When the couple moved to Rochester, New York from California (after a pit stop in Michigan for grad school), everything fell into place when they realized the town needed an artisan chocolate company.
While working corporate day jobs, Jennifer and Zahra combined their backgrounds in design and chocolate making, found a kitchen space in their city neighborhood, and developed a menu of flavors to delight the senses and provide an experience that could only be called hedonistic. In January 2007 they launched the business.
Visit Hedonist Artisan Chocolate’s Rochester kitchen to meet Jennifer and her apprentices. This unique space is open so you can see the chocolate making process. In the meantime, please indulge in our chocolate...and feed your inner hedonist!
